To assistant in the preparation of various meals for the Children’s Center; maintaining the quality and nutritional standards as required, in addition to, supporting the staffing needs of the transportation department on an as-needed basis.

Brief Description

To assistant in the preparation of various meals for the Children’s Center; maintaining the quality and nutritional standards as required, in addition to, supporting the staffing needs of the transportation department on an as-needed basis.

Department: Children’s Center

Supervisor: Food Service Coordinator & Transportation Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday; Typical Business Hours. Occasional evening or weekend work.

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Under the direction of the Children’s Center Support Services Coordinator, provides nutritious meals meeting the guidelines and requirements of the Michigan Child and Adult Food Program.
  2. Under the direction of the Children’s Center Support Services Coordinator, provides support on an as needed basis to the transportation department at the YWCA Children’s Center.
  3. Maintains a clean working environment, which includes the food preparation and storage areas, in compliance with all regulations.
  4. Helps to clear and wash dishes, pans and cooking utensils.
  5. Assists in the receipt of food products and the proper storage of materials.
  6. Assists with the periodic inventory of supplies.
  7. Consistently follows all guidelines of the Health Department, the Michigan Child and Adult Food Program and the YWCA.
  8. Understands role and responsibilities when riding the YWCA Children’s Center bus.
  9. Safeguards confidential information gained as a result of the position.
  10. Complies with applicable local, state and federal licensing requirements/certification and or regulations.
  11. Complies with Association policy regarding required reporting of child abuse and neglect.
  12. Works cooperatively with program participants, YWCA staff and volunteers

Education requirements, certifications, work experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required;
  2. One-year experience in food service required.
  3. Ability to meet the requirements of Bureau of Child and Adult Licensing.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
  5. Proof of freedom from communicable tuberculosis according to Bureau of Regulatory Services licensing requirements.
  6. Must be able to safely lift 60 pounds.

  4. SafeServe Training
  5. Orientation to Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Confidentiality, Mandatory Reporting.
  6. Other appropriate training and in-service which will occur during employment.
