Lead 3-Year-Old Preschool Teacher

Brief Description

Provide childcare and implement the educational curriculum and assessment tool within the 3 year old Preschool Classroom.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Assist children in all daily living activities including, but not limited to: toileting, personal hygiene, dressing and eating.
  2. Organize and implement age appropriate learning activities/ experiences for children within the approved curriculum with individual children and small and large groups.
  3. Take anecdotal notes and upload them into TS Gold
  4. Knowledge of the Creative Curriculum for Preschool
  5. Knowledge of how to conduct ASQ’s
  6. Supervise children’s activities to ensure safety, promote socialization and enjoyment of children attending the facility.
  7. Work cooperatively with the classroom teachers, Site Director and Teacher Mentor to solve any programmatic or client concerns including but not limited to communication, service delivery, quality, curriculum, personnel, etc.
  8. Work cooperatively with the classroom teachers, Site Director and Teacher Mentor with assigned duties, such as preparing activity materials, room cleanliness, teacher child interactions, professional development, and use time effectively.
  9. Participate in mealtime activities with the children to encourage good eating habits, good table manners, conversation and clean-up.
  10. Accompany and supervise children on field trips.
  11. Monitor health status of children for illness or areas of concern.
  12. Clean up after activities.
  13. Provide written and/or verbal communication to parents regarding children’s daily activities, progress and behavior.
  14. Maintain program participant records, collect statistics and submit reports as required.
  15. Comply with applicable local, state and federal licensing requirements/certification and/or regulations.
  16. Comply with Association policy regarding required reporting of child abuse and neglect.
  17. Safeguard confidential information gained as a result of the position.
  18. As a YWCA employee, project a positive image of the Association and its programs to the community, the Association and the program.
  19. Work cooperatively with program participants, YWCA staff and volunteers.
  20. Observe all YWCA policies and procedures.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

  15. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 60 pounds(or can it be more/less) / frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds / continually lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  16. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision, Depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Education requirements, certifications, work experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. CDA in preschool or have the willingness to obtain CDA within 6 months-1 year from date of hire.
  3. One-year experience working with young children within a licensed childcare facility.
  4. Ability to meet requirements of State of Michigan Child Care
  5. Satisfactory response to criminal and child abuse and neglect history checks.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Orientation to YWCA Personnel Policies, Mission, Purpose and One Imperative.
  2. Racial Justice Training
  3. Pronoun Training
  4. Orientation to Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Confidentiality, Mandatory Reporting.
  5. Other appropriate training and in-service which will occur during employment.
  6. Training as required by State of Michigan Child Care Licensing and high-quality program implementation
  7. 24 hours of ongoing professional development yearly
