Lead Shelter Coordinator, Koru House

Provide leadership to Residential Services Specialists. Assure routine and ongoing functioning of the shelter by providing and maintaining a supportive, culturally inclusive, safe, and trauma informed environment.

Compensation Range: $45,000/annually; Excellent Benefits
FLSA Status: Exempt; Full-Time
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday; Typical Business Hours. Occasional evening or weekend work.

Brief Description

Provide leadership to Residential Services Specialists.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Provides admittance and intake of shelter residents.
  2. Provides direct services to shelter residents.
  3. Provides crisis intervention, information and referrals as needed.
  4. Monitors functioning of the crisis line.
  5. Assists in activities related to daily shelter operations.
  6. Coordinate schedules for Residential Services Staff and ensure proper shelter coverage.
  7. Provide shelter coverage.
  8. Safeguards confidential information gained as a result of the position.
  9. Complies with applicable local, state and federal licensing requirements/certification and or regulations.
  10. Complies with Association policy regarding required reporting of child abuse, elder abuse, suicide and homicide.
  11. Works cooperatively with program participants, YWCA staff and volunteers.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education requirements, certifications, work experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Experience in trauma-informed services provision and crisis intervention.
  3. Commitment to respecting individual differences and serving diverse populations.
  4. Experience and knowledge of community services agencies.
  5. Ability to work flexible hours independently and as a team.
  6. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  7. Fluency in Spanish and English preferred.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Orientation to YWCA Personnel Policies, Mission, Purpose and One Imperative.
  2. Racial Justice Training
  3. Orientation to Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Confidentiality, Mandatory Reporting.
  4. Other appropriate training and in-service which will occur during employment.
  5. Health and Safety/OSHA and Emergency Procedures Orientation.
