Multimedia Coordinator

As the Multimedia Coordinator at YWCA Kalamazoo, you will have the opportunity to showcase your creative expertise and strong technical skills, while producing engaging digital and print design, videos, multimedia and social media content that showcases our organizational mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. You’ll have the opportunity to make an impact and tell stories through various media forms and be a key player who understands the impact communications content makes on our brand and for our agency.
- Experience in creating marketing and communications materials with a focus on anti-racism, gender equity, and social justice work. Extracurricular, volunteer, and community organizing communications work can satisfy this requirement.
- Bachelor’s Degree in fine arts, graphic design, communications, marketing, or public relations. Candidates can substitute 3 or more years of work or volunteer experience in the field of graphic design, marketing, communications, or multimedia content production.
- Advanced proficiency in graphic design, using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Design expertise should also be reflected in the candidate’s portfolio.
- Strong technical video editing skills and experience with Adobe Premiere Pro. (Experience with Final Cut Studio, AfterEffects, and AVID, among others, also appreciated.)
- Strong interpersonal skills. The ability to communicate directly, professionally, and effectively across departments, with stakeholders, and vendors is vital to this role.
- Demonstrated ability to follow/adjust routines, multitask, and respond to change as needed.
- Demonstrated skills in organization and collaboration as a part of working on and supporting a team.
- Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to think critically, problem solve, and navigate complex relationships.
- Experience with administrative tasks such as scheduling, phone calls, organizational tasks, drafting emails and memos, multitasking, research, and evaluation.
- Eagerness to learn about systemic injustices impacting equity in policy and society broadly, as a part of the work toward racial and gender equity.
- Must pass background checks and Central Registry Clearance.
Preferred, but not required:
- Previous video production experience with an agency or within a creative department desired. Those with freelance or contract experience will also be considered with the right skill set.
- Background in photography, especially portraiture, lifestyle, or PR/stock.
- Experience designing and placing commercial orders with brand elements, including apparel and promotional materials.
- Experience creating viral and/or engaging social media content.
- Experience creating presentation slides with appealing visuals and a focus on simplicity and accessibility.
- Knowledge of accessibility for people with disabilities in digital and print spaces and the ability to prioritize accessibility in multimedia and design work.
- Bilingual candidates and candidates with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Spanish, Arabic, German, Chinese, or French are highly encouraged to apply.
