Safely transport children to and from YWCA Children’s Center in a mini bus.

Department: Improving Lives of Children
Supervisor: Transportation Coordinator
Compensation Range: $15.00
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt –Part-Time/Full-Time
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday; Split Shift- based on needs of Children’s Center. Occasional evening or weekend work.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Operate the minibus in a safe and efficient manner
  2. Immediately report defective minibus equipment to the Transportation Coordinator
  3. Work effectively with children of varying ages and the YWCA Child Care providers riding the bus
  4. Safeguard confidential information gained because of the position
  5. Comply with association driving policy
  6. Comply with applicable local, state and federal licensing requirements, certification and/or regulations
  7. Work cooperatively with program participants, YWCA staff and volunteers
  8. Perform other duties as assigned
  9. Clean and service the minibus to include interior cleaning, exterior bus washing, installation of fuel, oil and other fluids as needed

  10. Continually required to talk or hear
  11. Occasionally required to taste or smell
  12. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather)
  13. Continually work near moving mechanical parts
  14. Occasionally work in high, precarious places
  15. Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals
  16. Frequently exposure to outside weather conditions
  17. Occasionally exposure to extreme heat or cold (non-weather)
  18. Occasionally exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
  19. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet; moderate; loud
  20. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 40 pounds
  21. Specific vision abilities required by this job include:
    • Close vision; Distance vision; Color vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Education requirements, certifications, work experience

  1. High school graduate or equivalent
  2. A minimum of 1-year experience safely transporting children using a 14-passenger
  3. Hold and maintain a Michigan’s Chauffeur’s
  4. Excellent driving record, in accordance with insurance and DHS licensing regulations
  5. Physically able to drive and perform all duties related to mini bus operations
  6. Ability to meet requirements of Bureau of Regulatory Services licensing
  7. Current CPR, first aid, and blood-borne pathogen certification
  8. Satisfactory response to criminal and child abuse and neglect history checks
  9. Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
  10. Effective communication skills with students, parents, and YWCA staff members
  11. Ability to pass a federally mandated drug/alcohol screen

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Orientation to YWCA Personnel Policies, Mission, Purpose and One Imperative
  2. Racial Justice Training
  3. Orientation to Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Confidentiality, Mandatory Reporting
  4. Other appropriate training and in-service which will occur during employment
