Promoting Maternal and Child Health

Infant Mortality Initiative

YWCA Kalamazoo is leading the effort to curb infant mortality in Kalamazoo. The death of a baby before their first birthday is called infant mortality. The infant mortality rate is the number of infant deaths that occur for every 1,000 live births. Infant mortality affects all of us because we are all a part of this community.

Our goal is for every mother to have a healthy pregnancy and for every child to reach their third birthday with key developmental milestones met.

Our Women and Infant Supportive Health program promotes healthy pregnancies, positive birth outcomes, and overall well-being of infants and mothers living in Kalamazoo.

YWCA WISH Program

YWCA Kalamazoo Women and Infant Supportive Health (WISH) Home Visitation Program offers a high-quality, culturally-relevant, evidence-based home visiting curriculum.
